Transfer StudentsPlanning Courses with Transfer FrameworksA transfer framework is a list of courses that apply to a certain major, like biology or accounting. If you begin college at one school a community college or university and are planning to transfer to another public school, a transfer framework may be right for you. If you know what you plan to major in, a transfer framework allows a block of your credits to transfer to any other public bachelor's degree program offered in Kentucky. Transfer frameworks are an incentive to plan ahead because they guarantee course transfer. Transfer frameworks identify courses needed for each of the undergraduate majors. With a transfer framework, you can plan to take the first two years of your courses at your first school, then transfer to take the courses you need to finish your degree. Block transfer credit is recognized for completion of any combination of general education categories or completing all general education requirements and specialty courses for a major regardless of how many public Kentucky colleges you attend. Choices are easier if you know which college you want to attend for your bachelor's degree. Even if you don't know, you should use transfer frameworks, college catalogs, and your academic advisor to plan your program. The Council for Postsecondary Education has posted the transfer frameworks on its Web site at cpe.ky.gov/policies/academicinit/Transfer/. Specialty Agreements for TransferIn addition to statewide transfer frameworks, some colleges have developed special transfer arrangements that allow students who complete an associate degree to transfer credits to a bachelor's degree program at a public university in Kentucky. Options are available for students with an associate or applied associate degree. Click here to access a list of the specialty frameworks. |
